Breast Reconstruction - A Recuperative Surgery

For most men, and women looks, appearance is very important for existence. How they appear physically, skin flaws, hair and all that is related is significant aspect of their life. It is an area which is very sensitive also, and can make a person feel less worthy or low in confidence. Between men and women, it is women, who are more drawn for outside beauty, bodily shape and curves which is of high regard.
Any kind of change in physical appearance, beauty due to some medical or non-medical reason can be very bothering to most women. So much so it can take away peace and mental stability in some situations. What are the types of physical changes that can cause derangement?
Are there solutions that can help with such changes? Not one, but few one of the most significant is having breasts. An organ that shows curves to a woman's body, that also symbolizes womanhood. For reasons such as an injury or disease such as breast cancer the breast undergoes change can be quite devastating for many. How do women cope up in such situations? What are medical procedures that can help in such situations?
The procedure commonly done for such correction is Breast reconstruction surgery. It is a procedure, done mainly in women to rebuild the breast. The material used is autologous tissue or prosthetic material to build a natural looking breast. The procedure also involves creating a areola and nipple as natural as possible in appearance. During the procedure, implants or flap from the patient's body may be used.
Breast reconstruction is usually carried out in parts. The primary part of the procedure is many times carried out with mastectomy. To be carried out along with mastectomy, patients with significant medical comorbidities such as high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity are at high risk. Having the primary reconstruction done at the time of mastectomy poses chances of infection, but has helps significantly with psycho logic and financial benefits. Also, patients that receive or are expected to receive radiation therapy as part of the treatment undergoes delayed autologous reconstruction because of probable complications.
Breast reconstruction is a complicated procedure which is achieved through several plastic surgery techniques. The idea of the procedure is to restore a breast which is near normal in shape, appearance and size after mastectomy. A breast reconstruction procedure, though meant to rebuild the breast can have varying results. Firstly, a reconstructed breast does not have the sensation as a natural breast; visible incision lines are always present whether from the mastectomy or reconstruction, and thirdly some surgical techniques also leaves incision lines on the donor.
The two most commonly used techniques for breast reconstruction are Tissue Expander - Breast implants and Flap reconstruction. During the procedure, the surgeon inserts a tissue expander, a temporary silastic implant, beneath a pocket which is under the pectoral muscle of the chest wall. The procedure which may take from few weeks to few months, saline solution is injected which helps progressively in expansion of the overlaying tissue. Only after the expander reaches an acceptable size, it is replaced or removed with a permanent implant.
Flap Reconstruction is another most common procedure used for breast reconstruction that uses tissue from other body parts. It can be from the back, buttocks, thigh or abdomen. The procedure is performed using two techniques; one in which the donor tissue is performed leaving the original donor tissue at its place to retain blood supply, or it is cut-off and new blood supply may be connected.

5 Common Cancer Risk Factors

Many risk factors for cancer are widely known. You are probably already aware of the dangers of asbestos, sunlight, and tobacco. But a couple of the following on this list might surprise you, if only at how common they are.
1. Don't Paint it Black. Over-cooking your food may not seem like such a big deal, but it can actually be something that can aggravate certain types of cancer. Aside from destroying many of the important nutrients by cooking food for too long, studies show that high-temperature cooking can lead to cancers such as the colo-rectal variety. If it's safety you're worried about, try buying higher quality, organic and/or farm-grown foods - this should help you avoid having to over-cook.
2. Use the Glass Ceiling. Well, the glass everything, really. A number of studies have shown quite conclusively that even at low levels, Bisphenol A (aka BPA, found in common plastics) can cause DNA damage and the development of precancerous lesions in the prostate glands of rats. Try to not even store your food or drinks in plastic, let alone buy them that way. Just imagine that no plastic, at any time, should go anywhere near your food.
3. Colour Yourself Natural. There isn't conclusive proof yet, but it's been said to be 'probable' that certain hair dyes, chemicals and pigments are carcinogenic. Erring on the side of caution, ask your hairdresser what they are using, and try to opt for the more natural choices when available. And better yet, allow yourself to go natural a few months of the year if you can - you just might start a trend!
4. Do Drink the Kool-Aid. Studies show that drinking more than one alcoholic drink per day increases your risk of developing breast cancer or liver cancer. In fact, heavy drinkers (three or more drinks per day) have more than five times the chance of developing liver cancer than do light drinkers (up to one drink per day). So cut back, or get help - there's no shame in avoiding the 'The Big C'.
5. Shift into Neutral. Studies are now showing that those who work shift work, e.g. flight attendants and nurses, are at higher risk for developing cancer. The reason? Sleeping during the times you should really be awake affects your circadian rhythm, which in humans governs the appropriate release of hormones and also governs the control of temperature in our bodies. Disrupt this natural cycle and you run the risk of damaging important genes, which in turn leads to the development of certain types of cancer, although scientists are still not sure how. Stuck in the cycle? Ask to be transferred to day shift only, or at the very least, bide your time until you find a job that can give you the hours you need. And give acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine a try - it can help create the balance that your body will desperately need.

Cancer Cures: Can The Solution Be Found From Studies On Isolated Indigenous People?

In years to come we may be looking back on today's approach to cancer treatment and wonder why so many with the disease could be allowed to suffer unnecessarily when the solution has been staring us in the face: The key to cancer prevention/reversal can be found from studies on isolated indigenous peoples from different cultures all over the world. This has been documented over the last 80 odd years.
Since the 1930's, a number of isolated indigenous people hidden away from 'civilization' got the spotlight of attention from Western world visitors because of their longevity, living to record-breaking ages.
These isolated indigenous peoples include: The Huzas tribe living at the foothills of the Himalayas, the Abkhasian people part of the Circassian group living off the coast of the Black sea, the Eskimos such as those living around Greenland, and then there's the Azerbaijanis of Azerbaijan located along the borders of Eastern Europe and western Asian countries...
Throughout the years a number of visitors to these geographically isolated places such as Sir Robert McCarrison, then chief medic to the King, returned to England from the Hunza valley and expressed his amazement over how old many of the indigenous people there had lived up to. Some had lived up to 150 years old, while it was nothing to see some still working at 100 doing strenuous activity, looking fit and well. There were no reports of cancer or any other life-threatening diseases.
As a result of Doctor McCarrison's reports (there were other visitors reports), over the years, more and more researchers from different backgrounds; medicine, psychology, sociology and politics... ventured out to these isolated areas to study the indigenous peoples there. They made a number of significant points explaining why these indigenous peoples were so healthy, lived to ripe old ages and had no major life-threatening illnesses such as cancer. This can be summarised as follows.
1. Nutrition
They had a healthy diet made up of fresh fruit and leafy green or root vegetables, pulse/ grains and glacial water rich in minerals. Unlike the Western diet far less meat was eaten while dairy food such as milk was raw and unpasteurized.
2. Toxicity-free environment.
There were no pollutants typically found in the industrial western world...
3. They exercised regularly
Through everyday demands they regularly performed arduous tasks along the challenging terrain, keeping them fit.
4. Attitude or outlook on life
From the many visitors over the years the indigenous peoples were said to be very happy, having a good attitude or outlook on life...
It had been concluded that the most significant finding was nutrition. This was considered to be the greatest contributor towards health and longevity.
Many years after McCarrison's visits, and the visits of many others, a vast amount of research had been done on the isolated indigenous peoples of the world. More support was able to be given to the 4 above findings, particularly on nutrition, confirming that these were the factors that contributed to good health and longevity.
Dr Ernst Krebs and vitamin B-17 (Laetrile/Amygdalin) for cancer treatment
Remember, there had been no cases of cancer or any other major life-threatening illness. If good food kept cancer away, could it also be used as a cure? Biochemist, Dr Ernst Krebs thought this was definitely the case:
It had been observed that stone-based fruits such as apricot kernels, vitamin B17 rich, were a major food source eaten by the Huzas. From his research Dr Kerbs discovered that it was vitamin B17 that had an involvement in destroying the cancer by interfering with the cell's metabolic pathway. He extracted vitamin B17 out of the food sources to make a refined version of B17 called laetrile (also known as amygdalin).
His claim has been backed up through other research, confirming that vitamin B17 in the form of laetrile can be used as an effective cancer cure therapy. These studies on isolated indigenous peoples and their findings have been greatly underestimated, sometimes even ignored. To this end I encourage the reader to follow up on this.

How to Be a Friend to Someone With Cancer

It's all around us, or so it seems. Most of us know somebody, be it relative, friend or acquaintance that has been diagnosed with this dreaded disease. So, what can we do? How can we be a good friend, neighbour or relative to someone with cancer?
So often, because of our own fear or discomfort with this disease, we back off, and stay away, leaving the person with cancer not only to deal with the difficult treatment, but also reeling from the effects of being abandoned by family and friends. Most people who have had cancer will tell you stories about friends that stopped calling, or family members that made themselves scarce.
When cancer hits, what a person really needs is a support network that can help them out both physically and emotionally. You do not have to shoulder the entire burden here by yourself, but you certainly can decide what part you wish to play.
If the person who has cancer is someone you have been close with, and shared "heart to hearts" with, try to continue to be there for them emotionally. That means, inquiring gently, and letting them talk as much or as little as they want. Some people who have cancer like to talk about it and others do not. There is no one right or wrong way to go about this and it is important as a good friend, to respect the person who has cancer. Let them call the shots. Remember: this is about them, not about you!
If your relationship is more casual, or you are uncomfortable with hearing about the cancer and providing the emotional support, think of what you might do to help the person physically. This may mean doing the grocery shopping, preparing a meal, babysitting, helping with errands, or sending over a cake or casserole. So often people say, "If there is anything I can do, let me know." They mean well, but this does get tiresome. Far better is to suggest the things you are available for, and have the person choose what suits them. Is it an afternoon outing, a meal, a drive to the doctor, or something else entirely? Not all people with cancer are comfortable asking directly for help, and sometimes we just need to figure it out as best we can.
The most important piece of advice here is to SHOW UP. In other words, be there for your friend or relative with cancer. Don't wimp out because you are afraid, or think you can't handle it. Ask yourself what you can do to help out your friend or relative, and do it. Show in both words and actions that you care. You have no idea how healing this can be.

Do Natural Cancer Cures Work?

Natural cancer cures do work; don't be fooled by the disinformation. Some years ago I had seen my father, an aunt I was close to and a best friend die of cancer. Having studied the subject extensively on and off for some 10 plus years, I came to the firm conclusion, that there are workable natural health based cancer cures out there, but they have been suppressed.
The suppression of these vital life-saving, cheap, natural and non-toxic cures is caused by the manipulation of the medical establishment through money, politics and media: Yes, seduction, corruption and dishonesty have got the upper hand... Money is stronger than truth; the authorities cannot have alternative cancer therapies replacing and undercutting their business.
Regarding the inventor/pioneers with their cheap, natural and non-toxic cures, there has been a common recurring pattern that goes like this. First, the inventor/pioneer gets acknowledged by authority figures for the innovative discovery. Then the authority figures try to separate the inventor/pioneer, attempting to buy the patent (ownership). The authority's ulterior motive, profit, is recognised by the inventor/pioneer as the reason for wanting to buy. Because the inventor/pioneer had more benevolent intentions, the offer from the authorities is turned down.
The refusal to be paid off by the medical establishment's authorities (for example, the American Medical Association in the USA) is the start of a very stormy relationship between the two: The authorities pursue a course of action destined to destroy the inventor/pioneer; assassination of character, ridiculing the discovery (even when they know it works well!), whatever it takes...
So, instead of taking a Nobel Prize, the inventor/pioneer, because of their dogged determination to get the discovery recognised, a legal battle ensues with the big boys of the establishment. The cancer treatment related to the discovery is deemed by the authorities as unauthorized illegal medical practice. However, during the court cases, which could drag on and off for years, many witnesses stand in the dock to testify the success; that they have been cured by the inventor/pioneer's treatment. Consequently, the case is thrown out through the window in favour of the inventor/pioneer, but the ever resourceful rich medical authorities find some other angle to pursue, so another court case ensues and so on.
-Here's the thing to get (and it stunned me when I first realized this): The legal battles are not about the success of the cancer treatment, that's not the issue. The court case issue is the fact that authorized medical treatment protocol was not followed!
Could you stand up to all the hassle related to the legal battles and take the unjustified character assassination attempts from the establishment? I know I couldn't. Many innovators/pioneers have buckled under the long-term duress: Alcoholism, stress related deaths...
I will cover in detail a number of those innovators/pioneers and their brilliant highly effective cancer therapies later. I will show exactly why they work and how they can be applied...
